I don't understand why you blame Ray Franz of arrogance. In the first place, he didn't have any real obligation to "authenticate" the GB. As he said (or implied) in his letter, had we been less gullible his refutation wouldn't have been necessary at all.
Do any of you really believe that an octogenarian GB member sends and receives emails or surfs the Internet regularly? I would be less surprised if I saw Karl Klein rollerblading down Fifth Avenue. Do you really believe that a GB member has ever read 1984 or seen Schindler's List? Do you really believe that a real GB member, despite how "apostate" might he had become, would start his first posting with a Jefferson's quotation instead of a biblical one?
Well, I WAS stupid enough to dismiss all the above. But I cannot blame Ray Franz for that.
