Your question stands on its own, but I will relate what I think is one answer.

After the Kansas School board decision removing Evolution from public schools, several students were interviewed. One girl said that it all happened long ago, and no one saw it, so nobody knows. At the time that statement saddened me, because the girl was losing out on one of the great wonders of nature and science. However, I think that attitude is spread throughout our culture. People would rather not have to make a decision.
Personally I feel that reality is grander and more mysterious than any pitiful illusion that homo sapiens can create.
