In Aug of 1996, 30,000 copies of the Suburban Express printed a blowup copy of the picture in story 9, from MY BOOK OF BIBLE STORIES. The picture showed only 7 sheep and 7 antelope entering the ark. 3,000 flyers were printed and distributed to support groups for Ex-Witnesses. Hundreds went to the WTS asking why they can't count to 14.
In the Feb. 8, 1997, AWAKE on page 26, the article, The Flood Fact or Fable showed Gen.7:8,9 were the scriptures used to support the claim, that all the animals went into the ark two by two. In the AWAKE, on page 4, it reads, Unless otherwise indicated the NWT - with References is used.
When an AWAKE writer was asked, why didn't the flood article use the NWT that reads, the clean and unclean animals went in by twos? He said it was used. He checked the finished product against the NWT and had to agree. After checking where the quote came from, he said, they said it was taken from the 1971 NASB. When explained that all printings of the NASB reads that both the clean and unclean went in by twos, he had nothing further to say.
After investigating the quote further it was noticed that only a single quotation mark was used. Another AWAKE writer assured me that the wording was paraphrased and not taken directly from any Bible. After he was told that there were 14 clean animals of each clean kind taken into the ark and not 7, and that 12 of the clean pictured the 144,000, he said, you stick to it. He knew the GB lied about the quote.
Labor Day weekend of 1998, it was discovered that the horns were removed from two of the male sheep in a newer edition of the Bible story book.
Thousands of E-mail are being sent to active and Ex-Witnesses with detailed information about why only the 144,000 are going to heaven, to replace the fallen angels. A poem inspired by Jehovah is also included.
