Hi AL.
Thank you so much for your comment. Most of the issues you have mentioned had not even crossed my mind until I came to this place. All of these things have added to the fact that the WTS is so very limited in what they know and teach. It enhanced my decision each time I read something relevant to me and my desire to find the truth, that the WTS did not have it. I just started out knowing inside me something was wrong and I doubt that I would ever have left if not for the internet. The only people in my surrounding life that were saying negative things were family members that had left or refused to come in, so in the JW world I was indoctrinated to not listen to them. But the net was different.
I went the Elder route on my doubts and I had piles of WT bound volumes and questions about things in them. They would literally look at my piles and would not even start to get into these issues with me. They had no respect for me. To them I was a trouble maker and they just gave me the usual guilt trips and I somehow got sucked in and was left with a sour taste in my mouth.
I too, looked at the cult aspect of it without the mention of specific religions and I was devastated that it all fit! I did some of the outside of religion research too and found that interesting and applicaple also. But I did this on the net. I doubt that my exit would have been quilt free and so painless if I had left with just a "bad feeling". So I am very grateful for the internet and sites like this.
Kmowledge is definitely power, a power the GB does not want us all to have.
I really enjoyed your comments and I am sure others will see themselves in them too.
Happy Anniverary on your first year here. Any many more!
