Thanks. Your reply has helped me - it sounds to me like it's just a self-congratulatory glee club, silly rather than sinister. I might humour them.

The greek phrases used in the US intrigue me to - again no tradition of that either - gee, we are boring! I'll look them up.

Thanks, Max - who misses the liberal arts students now he's on the most drab, boring business and education oriented campus.
