Internet access had nothing to do with my decision to leave Jehovah's Witnesses. I did not bother to check out "opposing views" web sites until after I had decided to leave.
However, I wasn't able to leave until I had found some other safe haven — in my case, the Unitarian Universalist church. Without the Internet, it would have taken weeks instead of hours to discover that I had already shared their beliefs for most of my life.
