But if we carefully note the description in the Rev book. It says that Babylon the Great was drunk from the blood of the holy ones and the blood of witnesses of jesus. Furthermore, in Chap 18:20 God is said to have judicially exacted punishment on her for the sake of the prophets and the apostles that were killed due to her influence.
Clearly, there is no financial institution throughout history, no matter what influence it pocessed is guilty to this extent and deserving of God's revenge. God's enemies and the enemies of his people, throughtout history, were primarily those who promoted or were influenced by false religeon.
When Rome persecuted the early christians, it is because of the influence of false religion on the state. It had nothing to do with any secret financial organization. It was purely false religeon, a religion that had its roots in the ancient city of Babylon.
