Hi Gang
As some of you know, I started a new job recently, after receiving my BSEE in June. I started grad school, but I was looking for work while in school. The ideal job suddenly came along, I interviewed on a Friday, and was offered the job on the next Monday(40K plus benefits up the wazoo). Things were looking mighty fine.
Suddenly last Friday, things took a revolting turn. On the desk of the engineer that will be primarily responsible for my training, and will be the person that I will work with most of the time, was a NWT. I had observed him saying a brief prayer over his lunch, but the idea that he might be a Dub had never crossed my mind. All weekend I wondered if he knew my story, after all, all of my Dub relatives are in this area. If he was a Dub, he had to know my father, there was no other possibility. Had I said something that would bring on the shunning that I was trying to avoid? I decided to be quiet about the whole thing and see what he said.
Today, he mentioned that he would be visiting his relatives in a few days to give them their Christmas presents. (WHEW!!!!) I asked him where he got the bible on his desk, and he said that he bought it at a thrift shop for three dollars.
I feel better now.
