What makes discussion of issues important is not whether we are right or wrong at the time but rather what others or we do with the information. We can do nothing with information that we do not possess. That makes discussing issues important.
You seize upon my views of what Greg said presumably as representing some type of inconsistency on my part. As if I can conclude dishonesty on Greg’s part but not on the part of the Society based upon what seems to be the same weight of evidence. Is that your implication? If so I will gladly address it. Otherwise what I said regarding Greg’s comment is quite legitimate. If you felt he meant something else, fine, I have problem with that, perhaps he did. I hope he did.
Human communication must allow some give and take in such matters otherwise it becomes impossible.
I think that agrees with what Greg has said on a number of occasions. I certainly agree with it. I also agree that we should respect that reasonable individuals will sometimes (maybe oftentimes) draw different conclusions. On those occasions it is good to discuss those differences for sake of personal development towards more informed decisions.
