The above is a link to a JW review of the Harry Potter childrens books. Which I can see is becoming another JW urban legend of evil incarnate like some board games and video games have become as well as some records, 8-tracks and stuffed animals used for gossip fodder. I for one, have been reading book one, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, to my children, ages 8 and 11, enjoying the experience immensely while they use their imaginations, and listen intently as we spend time together each night. The series is about about a boy named Harry Potter, 11, who lives in England (the land of great imaginary beasts, dragons, unicorns, knights and castles) who finds out he is a wizard...the son of a witch and a wizard who were killed by an evil sorcerer...who is now after Harry. Harry is the only one who can beat this sorcerer who is feared throughout the land, but he needs to learn the art of his inheritance. Harry goes to wizard school and meets wonderful colorful characters, and has one adventure after another...all beautifully written so as to make mental imagery easy and wonderful. Sure there are bad guys and good guys...evil is present, some things die...good guys come out on top. Not unlike ALMOST EVERY childrens adventure books or movies. If you find such things offensive, then you wouldnt be reading any fantasy books to your children including Mary Poppins who herself could do magic. But if you want the ride of your life and want to spend magical moments with your children...read about Harry. They beg me to read to them...they never did that before :)
