Why do you sound disappointed that the congregation is giving the standard rote replies to this stuff? Did we EVER actually saw what we really felt in those meetings? And if you did even remotely include a personal viewpoint the brother quickly moved on to the next person and corrected your views for you. They are only saying what the Society expects them to say. Its not bloody likely anyone is going to stand up and say "Hey! The society has no dang business interfering in what I do in my HOUSE!" Its repetition for emphasis...do as we SAY not as we DO, says Mommie Dearest. I remember a brother giving a talk one time about going to meetings (which they are doing more and more of) and he said "Whom amongst us really HATES going to meetings, these provisions of Jehovah?" which was meant to be rhetorical...but one sister raised her hand. He was so stunned he called on her. "I HATE going to meetings," she blurted out..." Im dead tired when I get home from work and the last thing I wanna do is change my panty hose and go back OUT in the cold and sit here all night." and then she quickly added when she saw the looks of horror..."But I will continue to do so at the sacrifice of my personal desires to do what Jehovah wants me to do." I almost stood up and applauded her act of honesty! And I forgave her the back peddling...we all have done that.
