In my old hall, over the last service year, the only ones baptized were children of publishers. One was a 9 year old son of the Service Overseer.
One 14 year old girl that I know, expressed doubts to her grandmother about getting baptized. She wanted to please her mother though, who really wanted her to take the plunge... so she did. She was very nervous and wanted to wait till she got older to make the decision.
Even the kids aren't that excited about getting baptised... just going through the motions because its expected of them.
When I got baptized, I wanted to become a missionary and evalangize the world with the Watchtower Soceity. I was really gung ho. Times sure do change.
So if it wasn't for the kids, the numbers would be much worse. My contacts at the hall haven't seen a new bible study checking out the hall in many months. Some old people... sitting in the same exact chairs. Its a very sad, dark place.
