From what I can see in the 1/1/2000 magazine, there are alot of negative increases in many countries (examples: France, Britain, Canada, Australia, Spain) with some having 0% increase (example: United States). I don't ever recall seeing as many negative increases. The 1999 peak pubs. are 5,912,492 and the 1999 av. pubs. are 5,653,987 with 2.0% increase over the 1998 figure of 5,544,059. Having 323,439 baptized in 1999 means that the figure increased by just 109,928. Memorial partakers were 8,755. I don't have the figures for 1998 handy right now to compare but I hope this info helps. I can see that the number of hours preached is staggering in proportion with the amount of increase. The efficiency among JWs is very much lacking since preaching for many of them is all about making hours.
