Rick, you're wrong. I am NOT scared. I don't believe for a minute that Armgeddon is coming, that the WTS is anything other than a wacky religion like so many others, that the book of Revelation is inspired or prophetic in any way, etc. I can tell you that after being raised with the constant fear of Armageddon and the threat of destruction always hanging over my head, it's a great relief to be free. And I know that many, many other ex-JWs, like me, no longer believe this nonsense. So when you say "that I think deep down you know it's coming and it scares the living daylights out of you", you're dead wrong (no pun intended).
It reminds me of what my brother (who is a hardliner elder and hasn't spoken to me for 10 years even though I've never been "officially" discliplined by the WTS) tells my parents: "She knows it's the truth." Nonsense. I know it's NOT the truth. I don't know why it's so hard for people to understand that.
If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. But I choose not to believe in such a nasty, horrible God who would destroy mankind in such an awful way. And if there such a God, why he would pick the WTS, its leaders and followers to be those who survive is beyond me. Even more reason to doubt the entire idea.
If you could free yourself of these horrible fears, Rick, you'd rest much easier at night. Believe me.
Best wishes,
JF
