Thanks Antique! That "unity" thing was a major stumbler for me. I really can't see why I have to claim to believe something that in my heart, I know to be false. God knows what I believe, the unity is only a show for men.
I always understood and truly believed that the scriptures at proverbs 8:28,29 referred to wisdom being present in Jehovah's creations. But I was expected to say it was about Jesus and I had to use it prove his prehuman existence. I could give you many many examples like this. I was expected to lie. If I said I didn't believe something, I was told to humble myself. "Believe it because the GB says it is so, and pray to Jehovah to give you the correct understanding"....um, sorry, my mind isn't that weak:)
Then the WT came out with the instructions to say "I believe the bible says", instead of "the society says"...whew, that would really have turned me into a liar!
