I was born and raised a JW but left along with my 34 yr old son last year. What opened our eyes is because of the way the Organization writes about 1914 in the literature. They write like they have always believed or taught that Jesus came in 1914 when I found out that they actually preached for many years earlier that they believed that Jesus came in 1874 and the end would come in 1914 taking the holy ones up to heaven and the earthly Governments taken over by God's Kingdom. I noticed the way the literature twisted the truth concerning 1914. Then we learned about all of the other date setting and teachings and prophecies that were preached in God's name but were false. (didn't come true) Rutherford's "millions now living will never die" teaching and preaching and all who preached that and all who listened to that are now all dead. The old stand by proverb...." The light get's brighter and brighter, just doesn't cut it. It has to be light in the first place, but if it actually isn't even light, then what is it? false teachings.
In 1925 Judge Rutherford preached that the end would come in that year, and all of the faithful men of old would be resurrected and rule as princes on the earth then. (in that year) Beth Sarin was something I didn't even know about and I am sure most JW don't know about even now, that it was a hotel like building built just for the faithful men old old, on the southern shores of California on expensive realestate. It was deeded in all of the the faithful men of old names.
This is just a drop in the bucket of what we found out. But what really bothers me is the fact that we see that none of Judge Rutherford's prophecies came true. This is the man who taught that the door to heaven was shut in 1935. My parents believed that they were among the great crowd of armageddon survivers, but they along with many others, died of OLD AGE. So they were never of the great crowd after all. Many of the great crowd are also dying of OLD AGE, and armageddon hasn't come so they will soon also be dead. JW need to wake up!! These JW should never have been taught that they were not among the ones with the heavenly hope because it was too early for anyone to say who were those of the great crowd of armageddon survivers. Now I do believe that the 144,000 is a symbolic number. After all, if it was only 144,000 wouldn't it have been already filledlong before even Judge Rutherford's day? Wake up people! It has been almost two thousand years since Jesus day! The jews themselves numbered into the millions let alone all the gentile nations who have known about Christianity all through this time!!
jesus himself spoke of Spiritual Isreal as being a 'NATION' a nation can be a large number.
How can the GB still claim that we cannot *test* or question them as we were told to do by Apostle Paul at 1 John 4:1? How do we or anyone know just who are true prophets or not unless we are allowed to test? Please read that scripture! Why doesn't the WBTS allow any testing? But instead of answering every question, they then question the questioner without providing answers. They are abusing the sheep right and left! Are they treating Jesus' sheep with love and care? They have allot to answer for before Jesus when he returns, let me tell you.
Well dear Ray, I had to also let off some steam. I really hate having been lied to and forced into preaching most of my life that we were doing a separating work, separating the sheep from the Goats and after almost a life time of preaching this as the truth most of my life, I find out that it is not! Also I preached that "this generation of 1914 will not pass away either and now most of them have! and the GB even changed the meaning now of the generation! My folks are dead now, they were not among the great crowd like they thought they would be, nor are they of the Bride class! So what were they? They were misled! Jesus warned us at Matthew 24 and Luke 21:8
I would advise anyone who is now, or has left the WBTS to please turn immediately to Jehovah in prayer and ask Him for His Holy Spirit to help you to learn the truth while you read and study the Bible. I did this over and over. He opened my eyes! I partook last spring along with my son. Keep doing this as Jehovah Himself invites us to do at Proverbs 2:1-13 and Jesus also told us to do at Matthew 7:7-8 We have to seek as seeking for hidden treasure. He guided me to learn so much more than I ever learned from the Watchtower concerning the truth in the Bible. Christians do not have to rely on an Organization of men for true Bible knowledge. Jehovah invites every single one of us to do it on our own, so does jesus our Lord. Please rely on Him for He does care for us!
You will find that it will also take away excess anger and resentment. We have to conquer the evil with the good. Anger and bitterness is poison. We have to get the better of it and not let it swallow us up, because that is what Satan wants to do if we let it.
May Jehovah our Heavenly Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus be with all of you in your search for Truth.
