It is no wonder you feel your are grasping at straws. When what we have to believe as the foundation of our life gets ripped to pieces, it is hard to trust or believe in someone or something else. It takes a while and I believe we end up really skeptical. I find myself questioning everything anyone tells me, and if someone slip and says something like, "we all lie when it is convenient", I will remember that forever. The next time that person tells me something I wonder, "is that a lie, or the truth?".
So, your feelings are understandable to those that have gone through it, confusing to those that haven't. Just hang in there.
