The more I read the replies from the likes of Fred and Edwin, the more a strong thought comes to mind.
SO MANY times in my 30 years with the Borg, the scriptures at 2Tim:3-5 were stressed, showing what people would BE LIKE in the Last Days.
We all know this by heart, I'm sure, but let's take ONE thought from that group, and focus in on it, that one saying that there would be NO NATURAL AFFECTION.
NO NATURAL AFFECTION......how UNNATURAL IS it to turn your back on, stop associating with, or totally treat as if they were DEAD.......your parents, children and close friends you've had for years?
We all know it's hard, it hurts US, it hurts THEM, and it's downright cruel and unkind. It rips the very fabric of family bonds, and promotes fear and hatred.
It is a natural thing to have love and affection for those nearest and dearest to us, but wouldn't you say that it is MOST UNNATURAL to "suddenly" view these SAME people as DIRT because they changed their minds about something?
To FORCE ourselves to be unkind today to someone we professed to "love" yesterday, doesn't that sound UNNATURAL??????
Doesn't it FEEL unnatural to us?
THINK about it....REALLY THINK about it, from the HEART....NOT from the literature you read from a PUBLISHING COMPANY!!!!!
I'm not pointing any fingers at anyone that I haven't pointed at myself first. I've done it and ended up trashing any shreds of family bonds after 30 years of my own arrogance, I share the blame as well.
We have no RIGHT to judge anyone else, Jesus TELLS us that, and Jehovah says that "I will repay" and "vengeance is MINE".
We are ALL imperfect humans and there is enough hatred in the world today without having to "manufacture" it, and FORCE ourselves to be mean to others, don't you think?
The GB sits away from the REAL world, sheltered, smug, and secure, handing down all these "rules of conduct", and the SHEEP have to deal with all the ugly consequences and pain. Can you even PICTURE in your minds, Jesus and the Apostles sitting in a protected environment...sending out ever changing bulletins to the disciples on who they should hate, in the same context as we see today? It's unthinkable, as well it should be.
Shouldn't God's "chosen people" be promoting the Good News of peace, love and forgiveness among its OWN people, and the people in the world who have seen ENOUGH hatred and intolerance?
Think about this, all of you who "feel" that cutting someone dead when you see them is acceptable.
Does it "FEEL" good to you?
Or is having "no natural affection" become the "natural" thing to do?
