The NBC Dateline episode on the Jehovah's Witness that died because she didn't take blook, aired at 9:00pm eastern time on Friday, 11/12/99.

It was the first 15 minutes of Dateline. I was able to tape it.

I thought NBC did a good job with the subject, and were very fair to both sides.

Obviously both parties were at fault... the drunk driver and the JW women that refused blood.

My gut reaction to it was... I think people will find the Watchtower Organization much less appealing. Hey... who wants to die for refusing medical treatment.

In the ministry, a popular objection that I always heard was that... "You people don't take blood, even if it means seeing someone you love die. I could never do that."

The commentator asked the family... wouldn't you like to have your mother with you now? They all answered that they would be seeing her again very soon. Then the commentator went on to briefly describe how JW's expect to live on a paradise earth very soon.

It was really sad to watch and see how this entire family (along with millions of others) are a victim of a wrong interpretation of scripture.

For now, the death toll will mount. But when the legal department gives the o.k. to the writing department... we'll finally see a change in policy.

But how many more families will loose loved ones in the meantime?? It is so senseless.

Joey
