People rarely die if they don't have their tubes tied, although that would put a heavy financial burden on someone with 9 children as you mentioned.

Failure to administor or accept blood transfusions has in thousands of cases put a significantly heavier burden on the patient: one from which the patient never recovers.

You're comparing apples to oranges, Rick. The ethics involved in your example are two dissimilar to compare.
