There is not one single shred of proof that Herod did any such thing. One would think that a massive slaughter of infants and toddlers in a sizeable culture would be noticed by SOMEONE and recorded for posterity, particularly by parents of the victims, but it wasn't.
Same is true with the 40 year "trek" in the search for the promised land: not one SHRED of evidence that a half-MILLION people camped every night 14,400 TIMES, in a relatively confined piece of desert.
