This is soooo simple. It all rides on Cyrus fulfilling the "70 weeks" prophecy. That prophecy simply states that there were seventy weeks which work out to 490 years and the Messiah was to appear at the beginning of the 70th week and die in the middle of the 70th week.
Jesus appeared in 29CE in the fall during the Festival of Booths and died 3-1/2 years later in the spring during Passover week.
The prophecy was to begin "when the word went forth to rebuild Jerusalem"... And when did that happen?
During the 7th month in the 1st Year of Cyrus. That same month they celebrated the Festival of Booths.
Therefore, Cyrus must fulfill the 70-weeks prophecy. That being the case the 1st of Cyrus must fall in 455BCE per the Bible.
From here we read Jer. 52:30 which says the last deportation was in the 23rd year of Nebuchadnezzar which began the 70-year exile. This is confirmed by Josephus in his "Antiquities" that begins the 70-year exile in the 23rd year with the deportation of those who ran down to Egypt. That means the 23rd year of Nebuchadnezzar II must fall in 525BCE.
That also means the fall of Jerualem in the 19th year of Nebuchadnezzar II would be four years earlier, which is 529BCE.
And that's it. The Biblically correct date for the fall of Jerusalem.
What about secular history? That is complex, but all you need to know is that there are two sides to that story and critical evidence is now available that directly supports the 529BCE dating and dismisses the current chronology as simply revised dating.
That's it! Told you it was fast.
You passed the crash course in 529BCE.
