Greetings,
The followings are real shocking committee cases that I have served on, one as a special committee appointed by the branch. What I tell you here are not lies, I have no reason to lie as many have already seen dishonesty within the WTS. I have always been troubled by these cases as if haunted somehow, now I shall release this pent up feeling of despair.
Case 1: this involved a local sister who had some obvious emotional problems. Most of the witnesses used one post box for all their mail, since mail was not delivered to homes as in developed lands. So this sister had some mail delivered to her from her brother overseas. She was expecting the package. The society had a designated brother to pick up the mail and distribute it to the missionary home and to the congregations as we only had 3 in the capital at the time. The sister said her package never came and when she inquired at the post office they showed her it had been picked up by the same brother who generally picks up all society mail. The brother was a long time witness and most trust worthy. So when he said he had not received it was not questioned any further. But the sister was going around telling everyone he had stolen her goods. No one could silence her this had become quite a scandal, the sister even got a lawyer to look into the matter for her. Then the society appointed a special committee to investigate this matter. We met and decided we would check every stone, we went to the lawyer, the post office and we really felt like police. Then we met with her and told her she had no right to be talking about this, and she should never want to take her brother to court. For Paul in essence said she should rather let herself be wronged than to try her brother in an unjust court system. We told her to stop slandering her brother. She said she wanted her package. This went on and on and it was decided the only way to silence her was to disfellowhip her. I really can't believe how when involved at this level one can be so blinded on the DF matter. We felt we had done a service to the brother of long time service. But the fact is the sister almost lost her life. No one would help her even to eat. She went back to her neighboring country, as she too had been a war refugee. Her mother was sad of the outcome. The brother fully exonerated and the branch told us, "Good job boys."
Case 2. One sister who was a regular pioneer had moved to our cong. She was from the interior of the country and had moved to the capital to find more work. She told one of the brothers she was having demon problems, they were bothering her at night and she was hearing voices. So we made calls on her. She had a young daughter about 10. This sister was very effective in the field and had helped several to become unbaptized publishers. One she helped to the point of baptism, who said on the district convention she wanted to imitate her study conductor and take up the pioneer work. Well we continued to try to help the sister. And we wrote letters back to the old cong then to her original country of birth and found out by asking her directly, she had been disfellowhipped and moved to our country. She studied and was baptized, then appointed RP and helped people. Needless to say we had to DF her again. But I thought, I thought the Seraphs were supposed to be cleaning the cong and not letting stuff like this take place. No way if this was an organization with God's exclusive backing would something like this slip through the cracks. One more thing that made me go Hummmm
Case 3 This was the most shocking so I saved it for last. A newly baptized sister with an unbelieving husband who applied minimal pressure was appointed pioneer. She was on fire and many were happy to have her and were encouraged by her example to pioneer despite an unbelieving husband. Well not too long after her baptism and appointment as RP she fell into fornication. She came to the elders and a committee was set up. It was decided because she was repentant she did not have to be DF. OK no problem, but is was also decided she could remain a pioneer because she was encouraging so many. Some on the committee could not accept this so a letter was written with all the details and sent off to the branch committee. The committee wrote and informed that in this case since the sister was doing such a fine job in the cong and not to discourage her. So she remained in the cong and on the list as an appointee by the WTS all after having committed fornication. Of course no one knew. So it appears there are two rules. Or this too made me wonder if Jehovah applied double standards to his people. The flock book tells elders that any appointed person in the congregation would automatically lose their priveledge if becoming guilty of wrondoing, though not always expelled from the cong. Or are the WTS really Jehovah's people? I'm sorry just too many inconsistencies for me. It goes without saying that I lost some serious sleep on this one.
Best Wishes
