"Those who simply cease to be involved in the faith are not shunned."
"The catchword here is "simply". It means that they're deliberately not telling the reader about formally ceasing "to be involved in the faith" by verbally or by writing a letter telling virtually any JW that they're no longer a JW. If this information gets back to the person's home congregation, the elders will often announce that the person has "disassociated himself", which of course results in shunning"
Yes....I was thinking of this too last night WIDE AWAKE in bed with the rage still churning. Its no different than when a child says "Sure I promise not to tell." and has his fingers crossed behind his back...and laughs all the way to the next person about his having pulled a fast one on YOU!
As for severing ties...I distinctly remember reading an article about that word...they can write 6 pages on one word you know...saying that your mother is always your mother whether she is DFd or not, that your kids are always your kids...and hence there is no actuually "severing" of those blood connections..even though all emotional, verbal, physical and spiritual connections ARE severed. Short of being 6 feet under...you are SEVERED!! I sent this article to my JW husband who will never comment on it to me..but I sent it anyway so he can see how Mommie Dearest is deceiving the masses from her throne in the Tower. I suggest others do this also with their JW relatives who are shunning them. It obviously says they DONT shun you...who knows...maybe they will come back to you?
