I've heard of several situations where someone has committed suicide after being disfellowshiped. This certainly "severs family ties." Further severing family ties is when the deceased's faithful active-JW family is refused funeral services for the disfellowshiped member of their family at the Kingdom Hall.
I haven't located the link to that part on their public relations site. Did I miss that disclosure?
I agree that the Watchtower's site contain's "white lies," but I know of no Watchtower article that condemns a "white lie" if its intent is to protect others from the terrible truth. Are you aware of any such article?
