Friend,
Moving up here from 'To Flee or not to Flee'
You asked me two questions. Do I feel the deciples were asking when the kingdom would come and if Jesus took that as being the question asked Him at Matt 24:3.
I doubt that that thought was ever involved in the first 34 verses of Matt. 24. Reasons being that the other two men who reported on this conversation never included anything about 'the end of the world/age.'
At Acts 1:6 He was asked" Is it at this time you are restoring the Kingdom to Isreal?" He answered it was not for them to know such things.Acts 1:7 At Matt.35 He says much the same. I'll take words out of His sentence so that it reads straight up. Heaven and earth will pass away, but of THAT day and hour no one knows. Here He is talking about 'the end', but gives no information to pin down the time so why would He spend 34 verses giving hints to something they're not supposed to know anyway. So no- I don't see the deciples asking about anything other than Jerusalem and I see nothing in Christs anwser up to 34 that discusses anything other than the signs about the destruction. I feel all the signs He discussed occurred before the destruction.
In the link you provided you listed a very convincing discussion of the signs that are happening today/recently as YOU see it so I understand how you arrived at your personal belief. And Hey- I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just seein' it different.
I should mention that one difference is - I don't see two fulfillments to bible prophecies. I see the bible as telling a story of history. Sometimes the details of these stories can be used as guidance in present day events, but I don't see them as predicting events.
Thanks for getting back Friend,
Shelby
