As a working man, I think that the reason for getting pay is to cover your living expenses. All of the Governing Bodies living expenses are paid for by the WTS. They do not have any external jobs that provide income for them. I still consider them to be paid religious leaders. Unpaid would mean that they volunteer for their duties without rweimbursement or salary.
