Most interesting comments. It doesn't sound much in comparison, but it was the ugly disharmony that inflitrated my family (parents, siblings, spouses) that first woke me up to the basic problems with the Organisation. It seemed a simple forumula to me. It either works or it doesn't!! If the *truth* couldn't help people to rise above pettyness then it wasn't worth working for. Our family became less nice/decent/reasonable etc etc after becoming JWs. I know I'm a much better person for being well away from it. All their endless rules and silly regulations creates an unhealthy environment for the human spirit - which for the most part is quite capable of being sensible and good.

It doesn't surprise me at all that this disharmony goes on at the very top of the pile.
