Hi Shelby,
The key to applying the HOLOCAUST to natural Israel is to do what you say and just read the Bible. This great tribulation is the fulfillment of Daniel 12, written 500 years before the Messiah even appeared. Now if you were reading Daniel 12 and it was talking about the great tribulation, note there was no Christianity at the time. The trampling of the "holy ones".
Daniel 12 says "during that time your people will escape."
Now what are we supposed to conclude just from reading Daniel? This happens to HIS people. His people are the Jews. So in order NOT to understand this as applying to the natural Jews, you've got to try and apply this to "spiritual Israel" with some kind of explanation. But there isn't any. Christians in general have lately dismissed the Jews as having any prophetic fulfillment in the last days, even though even the WTS thought the Jews return to Palestine was a sign that the Messiah had returned or would return. But the WTS doesn't even make reference to the natural Jews at all in Bible prophecy.
I guess questions that pop up to me are like
how do you know that 500 years from now there isn't destined to be an event ten times more horific than what Hitler did?
This is an INAPPLICABLE question, fortunately, since the Bible's prophecy must be fulfilled. And that means that whatever this horrific event is, was supposed to be fulfilled during the "last generation." And in fact, since the "darkness" period lasts for at least 45 years, it must happen within the first 35 years of that generation of 80 years. So 500 years from now would not fulfill the prophecy. It has to happen between at least 1914 and 1949. So, that's not an option. Sorry.
Please note, as well that the Bible imposes a 1290 days and 1335 days attachment after the "trampling of the holy ones" is over. That is, after the great tribulation is over. The Messiah must come in at 1335 years. So everything is TIMED.
Nice hearing from you.
Cheers,
