Your family was probably POed at you because you refused to show up for family functions (Christmas and birthday get-togethers, for instance). You were able to find plenty of time for your new "spiritual family" however.
Your friends probably lost contact with you because you valued your "spiritual friends" as more important, since they'd live through Armageddon and your "worldly" friends wouldn't.
You aren't talking to a bunch of idiots here, Cheekster. Your behavior alienated yourself from your companions and relatives. It was not the other way around.
