We all fall short. We just can't help it. But when we apologize we show how humble we can be.
It takes a geat man to know his strengths but a greater one to know his weaknesses and put them all out before others to examine. This is how we learn. This is how we learn to be patient with others and to be able to forgive ones when they do the same things to us. And as you pointed out we might have to make the same mistakes a few times before we get the sense of it!
