I haven't read Greg's book but the WTS is quite right regarding being catious of Greg Stafford since he truly does not represent the WTS' views on Biblical topics though he claims to do so.
I had a discussion with him regarding Passover and he suggested to me that the complications of exactly what day Jesus ate that Passover was unresolvable based upon scripture and that likely he ate a "pre-Passover" meal, at the same time confirming the traditional Passover was eaten on Nisan 15th. He also first stated that the WTS was noncomittal as to the exact date the disciples were sent out to prepare the meal when he was first presented with the challenge that the WTS incorrectly states they were sent out on Nisan 13th. He wasn't even aware that that was their position.
So he definitely can't be considered an expert on understanding Watchtower doctrine or beliefs and he definitely introduces non-JW beliefs in defense of certain general Biblical topics.
So dismissing Greg Stafford as a qualified representative of the WTS certainly would be appropriate per my experience with him.
How can one represent the WTS' view when they don't even know what the WTS' views are?
He might be an interesting distraction here at H20, and probably a nice person, but certainly not one to be taken seriously as far as critical doctrinal defense of JW teachings. In fact, the does them a huge disservice at times as is evident by his total misunderstanding of the WTS' position on the Passover and the Last Supper.
Thanks for the note.
Cheers,
