Hi-
I just got off the phone with a person in the Public Affairs Office and asked them about Greg Stafford and his book "Jehovah's Witnesses Defended".
The gentleman's comment (his name is xxxxx) was that he had never heard of Greg Stafford or his book and he said that if I was sincerely interested in knowing what the JWs teach that I should read information published by the Society. He said Greg's book could contain information that is "inaccurate or slanderous" and that one should "be cautious about putting faith in something that he [Greg Stafford] wrote". The gentleman was then kind enough to give me the Watchtower's web address.
I find it fascinating that the Public Affairs representative has no idea who Greg is and even discouraged me from reading Greg's book.
The other day, I was kind of laughing at the fact that a JW was on a website debating a bunch of ex-JWs probably in an effort to get them to read his book defending the JWs. I know this action is probably not looked on very favorably by the Society. The guy at the Public Affairs office did not seem very impressed when I told him that I was on this website where people talk about religious issues and that Greg Stafford was posting information about his book that defended the JWs.
