The volumes of explanation Greg Stafford has offered after the uproar has more than demonstrated his good faith effort to, not admit guilt which he personally believed wasn't the case, but offer an apologia. This was in the form of several posts, in what I personally believe is a good faith attempt to make clear the grounds for the course he took, and what he perceived happened that lead to his mistake.

I appreciate your words of balance and fairness, and they are timely indeed, for I just posted an apology, for the sake of continuing the discussion of critical issues, and so that those whom I may have offended can move on.
What you wrote with respect to my situation is entirely accurate: My apology is strictly in reference to the approach I took to the situation, and the potentially offending tone of what I said in the first Travis post. I do not believe I can more clearly communicate my intent for posting this way, than I have already expressed.
So, while you did not necessarily post in support of me, I appreciate the fact that you have taken notice of what I have said about what I did, to this point, and that I believed it was sufficient. Still, in the best interests of the board and in restoring focus to the issues that should be the object of our discussion, I have given a more official apology.
