I agree. However, these debates usually turn out the same way, with personal conflict and bad feelings. More often than not, they do not even answer the questions the contenders set out to answer in the first place. And, as I mentioned already, the responses just keep getting longer and less coherent.

So, is that you're looking for? 1 Timothy 6:4,5 speaks about those who would be "mentally diseased over questionings and debates about words. From these things spring envy, strife, abusive speeches, wicked suspicions, violent disputes." In chapter 2, verses 7 and 8, Paul also admonishes us to "carry on prayer, lifting up loyal hands, apart from wrath and debates."
