Hello Lost Again,

The society has hammered the point that one of the main reasons people leave their religion is that they are too tempted to engage in immoral practices and other "worldly" activities. In fact, the main reasons for disfellowshiping according to the society is for fornication/adultery.

I have no doubt that is true. It is my opinion that one of the causes for this is the incredibly Puritanical viewpoint the WTS has taken regarding sex. Most of the society's views on sex were formulated by a man who had never married. He wrote such goofy and embarrassing stuff as comparing young women to cows in heat.

:Could it be perhaps OUR very personality in some
respects is incompatible with the JW lifestyle,
and so we seek a 'clean' excuse to leave, thus
seeking exaggerating faults with the religion?

Since you haven't defined "JW lifestyle," I can only guess at what you mean by it. If you mean "our high moral standards, dedicating our lives to the preaching work, and constantly reaching out for more privileges," then I can honestly say I did not leave because of those requirements.

Nor did I leave over doctrinal issues, although I found it nearly impossible to reconcile in my mind the Watchtower God of destruction, jealousness, and vengeance.

I left because too large a percentage of JWs that I knew were the biggest jerks I have ever seen; that especially included Circuit Overseers, Elders, and Elder wives.

The JW "spiritual paradise" never existed anywhere in my 26 year experience as a JW.
