next time you listen to a D.O. or C.O. or most any
speaker at an assembly, take note of the phrases
that stress urgency: "running the race to the finish",
"fast-approaching", "soon to come", etc.
They don't have any exciting '75 style chronology.
They've pretty much given up expounding the "Is It
Later Than You Think" style with specifics on end-
time prophecy that could be knocked down.
They browbeat the friends in the WT., telling them
they should not serve for reward.
And yet, they can't live without it. Even with the
End nowhere in sight, it's their heroin, their
"theocratic crack". It's the "fix" they keep coming
back to when enthusiasm sags. It's the "high" they're
addicted to, no matter what they say. It's that
blind expectation that covers over decay, drift,
disallusionment and hypocrisies that might get
examined - but there's no time! The End is Coming!
What to do? Get off the "junk" and heal what's sick.
I continue to hope.
