Julie,

: Am I missing something? Help me out here.

You are missing the fact that when you have God on your side then you can do no wrong. Greg's book, and his position, is that the WTS speaks for God and, therefore, so must his position be. (This is the exact opposite of the "safe" apostate's starting premise which is to assume that essentially anything the WTS says is flawed somehow.) Any dirty little tricks that a theocratic warrior such as Greg happens to pull along the way to advance this basic "fact" are simply legitimate acts of "theocratic warfare." If Greg comes out an admits that he was less than truthful, or that he intended to deceive us, then can't you just see Mama heaving herself out of that high backed chair of hers, lazily pulling off her beautiful velvet glove and (to be a plagiarist) bashing Greg upside both sides of his head in no uncertain terms.

It is a delicious irony that a Christian cannot tell the truth because Mommy dearest would whack him for it. In reality, Greg pulled the pin on his theocratic grenade and now he has nowhere to toss it. That's why he's dancing around like he needs to take a leak and can't find the bathroom.

As far as I can see the only legitimate and honorable thing that Greg can do now is to retract his book and write another one that tells it like it is. He won't be the first JW apologist to have to do that.
