You're right! That's exactly right! Only time will tell.
BUT...in the meantime, is all this Biblical? Can you relate that once it is proven to be true that you can see where the Bible prophesied it all along. That's the key. Understanding at least the Biblical OPTION of this and then making sure you accommodate that possibility.
Remember, it is not a matter of simply waiting to be convinced. The people of Noah's day refused in their "scientific wisdom" to believe in such a thing as "rain", especially to the extent that it would flood the earth and drown all of mankind. But they did get CONVINCED, didn't they. Only it was too late.
So what you have to at least do for yourself is... put yourself down the road a bit. What would convince you this is true. And if it will be true later on, then it must be Biblically true now. The Bible is not going to suddenly re-write itself. So what you have to do is accept the Bible now. Understand the Bible now, before it becomes absolute no choice but accept it.
Even if you don't believe, make sure you're open to it. Which I guess you are. But make sure you check out the scriptures. Make sure this is according to the scriptures.
Definitely whatever is true or false will come out in time. But what you don't want is to find out the hard way and find out you're on the wrong side of God's favor. Investigage now. Clean up your doubts NOW. Rather than later when it might be too late.
