I have a question. When the society takes the double donation (the one the publisher donates, then the money the publisher collects) do they have provisions for poor JW's?

When I was going door to door, it was just before the changeover in the USA. We'd pay for the magazines and books, then when we'd collect money for them, we'd just keep it. I paid for the books and mags the same price as I charged. But I never placed everything, so wound up losing a little money each time.

But I wasn't poor, so it didn't hurt me. I just saw it as a contribution.

However, sometimes people fall on hard times. When I was going through a hard time, would they have demanded money from me anyway? Or would they have just given me the books and magazines and then I would have given them the donated money from the householders?
