I happened to be on the board and saw the Travis/Stafford situation develope. It was simply a case of someone trying to get out of a losing situation and save their face while doing it. Sadly for Mr. Stafford, he chose a less than honorable way of doing so. If anyone has clouded the issues and created these difficulties for himself and the debate, it was Mr. Stafford.
