I can appreciate your confusion. Everything isn't just in black-and-white sometimes. But things are heating up in the world, especially in a spiritual sense. One would expect with a third of the angelic host being cast down to the earth and Satan so angry that he has short time that there would be a critical increase in spiritual awareness, curiosity and paganism. So we must all be on guard.
But as events begin to move toward openly affecting the whole world as we approach the millennium, things will become more clear to those who are paying close attention to these things.
Key points will be that the Jews and the nation of Israel will again play a key role in world affairs and Jehovah must vindicate his name through them. This will be amazing since the Jews are known to be god's people much longer than the witnesses.
Furthermore it seems the leadership of the witness organization definitely has been cast out. There are so many false teachings and misguided teachings going on for them now it is pathetic. And they continue to think they are giving out light and they have none.
Even 1914 is an "incompetent" date as far as chronology is concerned because of the discovery of double-dating in the VAT4956 and the SK400. It proves the Persians revised their chronology and what the original chronology was, which agrees with the Bible that Jerusalem fell in 529BCE. There is no turning back on that. So all their prophesies about everything which seems to hinge around 1914 are going to be off.
That's why the "great tribulation" doesn't work for them, which is supposed to occur BEFORE the Messiah arrives. Read the gospels. Every one shows you the Messiah comes AFTER all the signs occur, not before. And that includes the great tribulation. Once you understand the focus on natural Israel and understand the main force of the great tribulation was toward them during the HOLOCUAST, (although JWs were specifically part of that, being the only religious group specifically singled out by the Nazis, proving they are "spiritual Israel"), then you can understand the simple chronology that after the tribulation and the Jews began to return to Palestine, that the 1290 days and 1335 days apply and thus the Messiah should have arrived for the Jews in 1992. 1947+45=1992. 1992 is truly the correct date for the end of the gentile times, not 1914 or 1934.
So knowing that and presuming the time period for the gathering and sealing of the anoined ones was to take place before the "four winds of heaven" were released, all that is left is for Babylon the Great to fall and then Armageddon.
Since the fall of Babylon the Great will be such a clear indication of where we are in the stream of Biblical prophecy, it will wake the world up and I think those who are not so focussed will get quite focussed. But one must "get out of Babylon the Great" before her destruction or "receive part of her plagues." And Babylon the Great is all about the "mysteries" and secret pagan worship of Satan.
