I have one clarification I would like to add. Earlier I stated that "the whole idea of lying or not is one of morality."

That expression was in regard to how I believe "lie" is used and applied in the Bible. I realize that modern usage of "lie" does not necessarily carry negative connotations. Instead, as you and I have commented on, the modern usage of "lie" means deception or falsehood without necessary moral connotations one way or another. On this thread I have tried to explain the difference I perceive in the Bible’s use of "lie" compared to common usage today.

In short I hold that every time the Bible applies the term "lie" a moral and adverse judgment has been declared. As I have already commented on, I believe the Bible does contain descriptions of deceptions that are blessed. In those cases, though deception has occurred (a lie in modern terms), there is no moral and adverse judgment. In the Bible deception is either acceptable (okay or good) or unacceptable (bad) with the unacceptable deception being classified as a lie.
