Many men in Texas also wear beards. At my place of business there are as many men with beards as there are without, including three vice-presidents and several department supervisors.
If you want to see the current status of beards in polite society, check for their appearance on "normal" people used as models in advertising. No one is going to do anything to offend in an advertisement; the whole purpose of it is to win the viewer over. Seen any beards in ads lately?
