This is an interesting topic for me because it touches on the whole issue of continuity that you don't hear Witnesses talk about so much nowadays. The idea that even after the second century apostacy, there was always a faithful remnant (celebrating the memorial for one thing). I often wonder why Jehovah had to teach Russell from scratch, instead of directing him to the remnant alive at that time....
