Just wondering how those who take the Bible literally can reconcile all the gaping holes in logic. I tried and tried to make these Bible stories fit observable facts and logic and they just don't ring true. Why does an almighty, omnipotent, and ageless superbeing like God need to work his will under the petty limits imposed by the Bible stories?

For example, why would God fear that the builders of the Tower of Babel could threaten Him with a mud brick structure which, limited by the laws of physics, could never have grown to any height even near that of a medium sized mountain? Even with modern high-tech materials and building innovations sky scrapers are limited to heights far below those of mountains. If God feared people reaching into the heavens he shouldn't have made mountains which people can climb much easier than building giant towers. Especially when these mountains are much higher than any building then or since. How could people building mud brick towers have threatened God to the point where he took action? I know the Watch Tower Society explaination (an extra-biblical extrapalation about humbling the builders and slowing human progress) but this doesn't hold water. The Egyptians were allowed to build similar and taller structures (made from stone which is stronger than mud brick) by God even before this time period and yet He took no action against them. Not to mention, all the airplanes flying higher than mountains and space craft which now can go beyond the Solar system and yet recieves no notice from God.

The Tower of Babel story is obviously not a real God interactive event, it is clearly a fairy tale to explain why there are different languages. Just something to think about along with a whole list of other examples we can look at another day. Just wondering,Liberty
