I don't recall our conversation on the matter. I do know that Russell was raised a Congregationalist, and to my knowledge he joined no other Church, I would suspect that Alan F. is correct on the matter.
I also know (as I'm sure you do, too) that for many years, if a Bible Student/JW was baptized by immersion even in another religion, the WTS considered that acceptable.
The issue is not important enough for me to get off my butt and look up the answer!
