Hi Searching;
Don't pay attention to Alan and Fred, they seem to be of the mind that JW's can never do wrong, and anyone who says they do, well they are just liers! Classic examples of brainwashing.
I have been in the same boat you were in, but at the time I was still going to meetings. Not very reagular, but still going. I live next to two elder, one is my wife's brother, and nobody lifted a hand to help us, unitl a sister from out of state came to visit her parents. She couldn't believe nobody had came by to help. She made them feel guility, and a couple of sisters did drop by once to help clean house. Lots of "love", yeah right! "Worldly" family are the only ones that came and helped without any pressure at all. They were, and still are, a 1,000 times more loving than any JW I know.
Another older brother was in the hospital for at least two weeks, one elder stopped by, and that was it except for family. When he got home nobody stopped by for two months. His wife complained to the C.O. on his visit, and a couple of young brothers were sent over to "read the magazines" to him. That was it. What kind of love is that?
Now when the local jezebel, and clique leader, gets a hang nail, every sister in the clique has to come by and wait on her hand and foot. I guess it depends on who you are (She is the P.O.s wife) and how much dirt you got on everybody as to the amount of love shown.
I know of those in my old congregation who cut off their own family simply because they left the org. or never became JW's when they grew up. They can brag about their "love" all they want, but when it comes to practice worldly people put them to shame.
ANDY: who hopes Alan and Fred never need any help form their "loving" brothers and sisters!
