If one takes Jesus words to be applied globally, then one would have to still ask if the intent means every living soul or simply to at least one member of each "nation" for a witness. Interesting question also as the concept of the nation state as we know it did not exist 2000 years ago. Was it therefore, as Sours suggests, taken to mean the "multitudes" which could have been fufilled many times since the Olivet Discourse, or some other less incompassing phenomena.
If over half of the world's populations is never confronted with the christian version of the "Gospel" then has it been given for a "witness to all nations"?
