About 2 weeks ago, I ended up in the ER because of excrutiating pain. Lots of test revealed I needed surgery very soon. They shot me with painkillers and sent me home telling me to get in touch with a surgeon as soon as possible.
I contacted the surgeon who arranged to have me in the hospital just a few days later. During this short period of time, I worked trying to finish up a few projects, I had going so that money would be coming in. I'm self employed so no work=no pay.
News of my predictament spread through this little town. One of my clients wrote out a check to me and said I could work it off later. Several people called to see if there was anything they could do. I've received cards and flowers from others.
And every single one of these gestures came from "worldly people". Not one call, card, or visit came from any JW.
For the record, I have never been DF or DA. Just stopped going to meetings. I walked away about 2 years ago. During that time, I have heard a lot of gossip come back to me, but nobody has ever approached me about why I left. So I have been tried, convicted, and punished, based on gossip.
My health is improving each day. I don't feel any resentment toward witnesses. I just see them as people that have turned their hearts and consciences over to someone or something else. It is like a switch has been turned off on them.
I'm grateful and appreciative of all the caring and love that my family was shown. To JWs I say, don't believe them when they tell you the world is unloving. It simply is not true. Also don't belive that all who have left the organization have left God, or they are horrible people, investigate things for yourselves. Make up your own minds on things.
